Tailored Driver Rule Settings

U.S. Driver Rulesets
Initially, your organization is set to the default USA (8/70 Property) ruleset with a 34-Hour Restart. You have the flexibility to customize these settings to align with the specific ruleset applicable to your organization.
When making adjustments to these ruleset settings, it is advisable to mirror the ruleset your organization followed before the implementation of the ELD mandate. For any inquiries about the ruleset applicable to your organization, please reach out to your local DOT Office.
As a fleet administrator, you possess the capability to modify the ruleset governing your drivers, both at the organizational and individual driver levels. Access the rulesets management feature through Settings (gear icon) > Compliance.
Category Overview
Name
The designation for the custom driver ruleset
Cycle
Specify the relevant cycle regulation to be followed by your drivers.
Restart
Choose the restart time period: 34, 24, or none for the US; 36 or 72 for Canada.
30 Minutes Rest Break Required
The default is None, indicating no mandatory 30-minute rest break for your drivers. If a rest break is obligatory, select the appropriate rule:
- Choose California Mealbreak for drivers requiring a meal break after five hours of drive time.
- Opt for Property (off-duty/sleeper) if your drivers are transporting non-hazardous materials.
- Select Explosives/HazMat (on duty) if your drivers are transporting hazardous materials.
When a rest break is necessary, the Advaya Driver App initiates a countdown to the break time, records any violations, and resets the clock after the break duration elapses.
State Override Ruleset for Drivers
The State Override ruleset functionality proves valuable in scenarios where your organization's operations involve drivers both leaving and staying within a specific state. This feature enables you to establish two distinct rulesets, automatically applied based on the GPS location of your Vehicle Gateway. Any modifications made to an override ruleset apply retroactively to HOS logs, excluding the Canada Cycle 1 and 2 rulesets.
The state override takes effect when the driver selects a vehicle located in the relevant state. If a driver departs the state, they will transition to the default ruleset for that cycle. Upon leaving the state, the driver is shifted to the group default. Upon their return to the state, they will adhere to the group default ruleset for the subsequent 7 or 8 days. However, if the driver comes back to the state and undergoes a 34-hour reset, they will adopt the state ruleset at the commencement of their new cycle. Upon returning to the home state and completing the 34-hour designated reset within that state, the driver will transition to the state ruleset.
To establish a state override driver ruleset, access Settings > Compliance > State Override Driver Ruleset or configure it individually in the driver profile. When creating a state override driver ruleset, you must provide the following details:
